BUZZARD  COULEE Meteorite fell November 20 2008 and was seen in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North Dakota. According  to Wikipedia,  it was 5 times as bright as the moon and entered our atmosphere at a speed of about 14 km / second . It was about the size of a desk and weighed 10 tonnes and covered a 20 square mile debris field .  The first piece was found by a Masters student at University of Alberta in ice in a fish pond, about 40 km south east of Lloydminster,  Saskatchewan. The local population insisted the fall be named after the oldest-named geographic feature of the area. Over 1000 pieces have been found ; the 2 largest were 13 Kg  each. The ROM is presenting a comprehensive description of this important Canadian Meteorite fall . Visitors to the annual Gem and  Mineral Club of Scarborough Show can view a piece of the real thing and learn more about this important  Canadian geologic event.  Show dates: September 17,18 2011 at Don Montgomery Community Centre ,2467 Eglinton Ave. E ,Scarborough,On.
