Brancroft Ontario www.bancroft.com/rock-collecting-sites/

Our February meeting will be take place at the usual place,  the Knox United Church Meeting Hall, 2569 Midland Ave., and beginning at 8:00 pm.  Our speaker, Michael Gordon is a well traveled rockhound. His presentation will include some the classic sites in Northern and Southern Ontario, such as Bear Lake Road, the Roger’s mine in Madoc.   Other possible sites are the classic Walker and Thorold quarries in the Niagara peninsulas. Also he has recently visited a few of the abandoned uranium mines in the Bancroft area.

Michael is a Gemologist and also an avid caver, last summer he led a few intrepid Club members on a caving trip to the Marmora Maze caves, near the Callaghan Rapids Conservation area in Marmora. The trip*

An intrepid GMCS Caver

was very informative and interesting.   So expect a great talk on quarries, caves and mineral collecting sites. Michael is a prolif author as well. He has 2000 videos that can be seen on YouTube 461. You can buy one of his books on this site
