Bob Beckett will be taking us on a historical and photographic tour of the Faraday/Bancroft Mine. We will learn about the mine’s history and we will see photographs from the mine’s heyday. We will also see photographs of the mine’s plans and some of the spectacular specimens it has produced.
Our speaker this month is none other than long-time club member, Bob Beckett. Bob has been a fixture at our meetings and those of the Walker Club. You can also see him at various shows, including our own, with his business, Kawartha Minerals. He has also served as an auctioneer at the annual auctions of our club and the Walker Club. In addition to all that, Bob is quite the mineral prospector. Bob has demonstrated the intestinal fortitude to go on weeks-long prospecting trips in remote regions of Canada. These trips entail reduced communication with the outside world, primitive conditions, enduring what nature has to throw at us, and climbing into precarious positions to get those treasures nature has made. You won’t be seeing this sybarite doing stuff like that.
