Unfortunately, the Club has had to make another tough decision and it is my sad duty to inform you that our September 2020 “Wonders of the Earth” Gem Show has been cancelled.
We had hoped that by September, life as we know it would have returned to normal, however the reality is less optimistic. There were several considerations for cancelling our show. First and foremost is the safety of our customers and dealers. Even if by September some or all businesses are allowed to reopen, many of our members have indicated that they will continue to isolate themselves and will not attend large public gatherings. Some dealers have also replied that they will not participate in the show. Unfortunately, this means we are losing both dealers and customers.
In addition, the success of our show in previous years was due to aggressive marketing and promotion through the distribution of coupons/bookmarks at the various gem shows preceding our show. Since most other gem shows have already been cancelled or postponed, we cannot promote our September show and cannot guarantee decent attendance.
We are hopeful that the measures taken by governments around the world to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus will allow us to run a show in 2021.
